Description

Released by Konami in 1989, *Crime Fighters* is a side-scrolling action game set in the criminal underworld of Chicago, following a special police task force as they rise up to rescue the mayor’s kidnapped daughter. Developed by Konami of America, the game features chaotic, four-player simultaneous action and meticulously detailed backgrounds ranging from train stations and subway cars to gritty city slums. Players control their characters using an eight-way joystick and three buttons—punch, kick, and back kick—to fight their way through eight stages and dismantle a criminal gang. At the time of its original release, the game was known for a slight delay in the playback speed of its background music; however, this quirk became part of the iconic, high-energy sonic experience that captivated many players of the era.

Story

Four martial artists, fueled by the fires of righteous indignation, have risen to rescue the mayor's kidnapped daughter. Players control these fighters as they storm the strongholds of a vicious gang syndicate that rules the city. The goal is to suppress the many enemies blocking your path and defeat the bosses waiting in the deepest parts of their hideouts.
