Description

Released by Seta in 1988, Twin Eagle is a vertical-scrolling shooter in which the protagonist, seeking to avenge his brother, pilots a state-of-the-art helicopter to take on the X Empire. The game is known for its hard-rock soundtrack featuring vocal tracks, a unique system where the helicopter automatically repairs itself after taking damage, and an extreme difficulty balance: firing more than 16 shots per second powers the player up to their maximum state, but simultaneously causes the enemies’ difficulty to spike. The tragic character portrayal depicted on the game’s instruction card has also become a frequent topic of discussion among fans. The original arcade version featured various quirks specific to the hardware, including occasional breaks in the background music and specific behaviors during attract mode.

Story

After losing his brother in battle, the protagonist, Joe, overcomes his grief and rises up to exact revenge. Climbing into the cockpit of the state-of-the-art combat helicopter "Eagle," Joe and his comrade charge toward the enemy fortress. A fierce battle to protect world peace and annihilate the brutal enemy begins.
