Balloon Bomber

Released by Taito in March 1980, this fixed-screen arcade shooter challenges players to intercept swaying balloon bombs using an artillery battery. When a bullet strikes a balloon, the bomb drops; failing to destroy these falling bombs results in holes forming in the ground, which restricts the player's movement and keeps the gameplay consistently tense. The game’s appeal lies in its strategic depth, as intentionally targeting balloons to destroy the falling bombs yields higher scores.
