Released by Nichibutsu in December 1979, Moon Alien is an important entry in the post-Space Invader era of shoot-'em-ups. While the gameplay features a simple control scheme limited to horizontal movement and firing, the game introduced notable technical advancements to the arcades of its time, including a variety of enemy attack patterns and multi-formation maneuvers.
