Break Thru

Released by Data East in February 1986, Kōkyō Toppa (Forced Breakthrough) is a military action game in which you ride a buggy to single-handedly infiltrate enemy lines and reclaim a stolen aircraft. By utilizing an 8-way joystick and two buttons, players must navigate through and overcome formidable foes like tanks and helicopters, as well as natural hazards such as landslides, all while upgrading their firepower with items retrieved from the air. Though the game may seem austere at first glance, its five stages offer surprising depth the more you play. For development and maintenance purposes, you can enter test mode by holding both the 1P and 2P start buttons while resetting the game; the "5" key can then be used to navigate the menu.

Players control a special operations vehicle, pushing through dangerous territory to reclaim a cutting-edge fighter jet stolen by enemy forces. Drive through intense battles spanning from mountainous regions to urban areas, destroying any enemy weaponry that stands in your way.
