Kaitei Takara Sagashi

Kaitei Takarasagashi (Seabed Treasure Hunt) is a fixed-screen action game released by Universal Tokki in May 1980. Players control a diver who must brave the ocean depths to retrieve treasure while fending off the threat of sharks. The game features unique mechanics, including an underwater weapon and a button-controlled "pause" function for descending. However, one of the five treasures is a "dud" that causes the player to lose a life the moment it is touched. True to the promotional tagline "Treasure or Death?", this element of irrational luck became a major topic of conversation among players at the time.
