P.O.W. - Prisoners of War

Released by SNK in November 1988, this arcade title is a side-scrolling action game in which players must escape a brutal prison camp and defeat the enemy general. By combining an 8-way joystick with three buttons, players can unleash a variety of martial arts moves, such as punches and kicks, and engage in strategic combat using weapons like guns and knives found along the way. The distinct sound effects heard when defeating enemies left a lasting impression on many players. Please note that some original arcade cabinets may display a vertical black line on the right side of the screen; this is a phenomenon caused by the hardware specifications of the time.

As a soldier taken prisoner by enemy forces, the protagonist rises up to escape from a brutal detention camp. Players must fight their way through the occupied base, breaking through enemy encirclements as they advance deeper into hostile territory. The final objective is to infiltrate the enemy's headquarters, defeat the general, and escape alive.
