Description

Released in 1988 by Toaplan and Taito, Truxton is a vertically scrolling shooting game that expands the battlefield into outer space while continuing the legacy of the company’s "Tiger" series. The game’s most notable features are the player's craft being equipped with a three-way shot from the start and the ability to deploy bombs instantly. During gameplay, players encounter three types of weapons, power-up items, and speed-up upgrades. The game consists of five stages, with the difficulty continuing to increase up to the 32nd loop. A touch of developer playfulness is also revealed in a well-known anecdote: the pilot featured in the game is named "Tatsuo."

Story

Far across the galaxy, the Gidan army, led by Dograva, begins an invasion of the planet Borogo using a massive asteroid. After a Borogo cargo ship is attacked, the lone surviving pilot boards the "Super Fighter" to take on the desperate mission of defeating the Gidan army. The player must crush the massive enemy fleet advancing through the asteroid and save their home planet from crisis.
