Mr. Goemon

Released by Konami in May 1986, Mr. Goemon is an action game originally developed for the arcade. In this title, players step into the shoes of the legendary thief Ishikawa Goemon, embarking on a thrilling adventure through Edo to steal the golden shachi off the castle roof while evading pursuing guards. Using a four-way joystick and buttons, players must fend off officials and ninjas with pipe attacks and projectiles to reach the goal. A unique feature of the gameplay involves mashing the joystick to break free when caught by an enemy. This comical, Japanese-themed action game features a loop of four distinct stages.

The legendary master thief Goemon has caused a stir throughout Edo by audaciously stealing gold coins from the castle and leaving behind a warning note announcing his intent to steal the golden shachihoko as well. Playing as Goemon, a thief who robs from the rich, you must skillfully evade the officials closing in on you one after another. Your goal in this battle is to reach the castle rooftop and steal the legendary golden shachihoko.
