Description

Released by Sega in 1987, After Burner II is a landmark in immersive 3D shooting games, featuring a specialized cabinet with a flight control stick that puts players in the cockpit of a fighter jet. Players adjust their speed using the throttle while utilizing vulcan cannons and a limited supply of missiles to conquer all 23 stages. With its hard-rock soundtrack heightening the sense of realism and bonus elements triggered by sensory feedback, the game stands as a masterpiece where the hardware and software of the era are perfectly fused. Please note that certain quirks, such as the fact that some voice lines included in the sound test fail to play, have been preserved as part of the historical record of this title.

Story

In this game, the protagonist takes on the role of an F-14 fighter pilot tasked with standing up to an unknown enemy force. Players launch from an aircraft carrier and advance through each stage by destroying overwhelming numbers of enemy aircraft and ground targets. Building upon the basic structure of the original After Burner, the game unfolds across a grueling, full-scale mission spanning 22 stages.
