Description

Released by Atari in 1985, Paperboy is a highly original delivery simulation action game that famously utilized a dedicated bicycle-shaped controller. Players take on the role of a newspaper delivery driver, tossing papers into subscribers' homes while navigating a variety of obstacles. The game demands a degree of tension, as repeated delivery failures or property damage will cause subscribers to cancel their service. Beyond the lighthearted freedom to target non-subscribers, the game captivated players of the era with its distinctively American world, including features like a commemorative newspaper front page awarded upon successfully completing a full week. Note that the controls, when first launched, adjust via an automatic calibration process during play. In its original arcade run, the hardware was also known for subtle, unique technical quirks, such as variations in volume or display behavior under certain conditions.

Story

You play as a paperboy riding a bicycle through a residential neighborhood. Your goal is to deliver newspapers to the doorsteps of subscribers at just the right moment. Along the way, various obstacles will stand in your way, such as children running into the street, ferocious dogs, moving cars, and even the Grim Reaper. The main focus of the game is to keep delivering papers safely and maintain your number of subscribers.
