Description
Released by Irem in 1988, Ninja Spirit is a side-scrolling action game set during the end of the Edo period, famously marketed as a "hardcore, authentic Japanese ninja story." The game follows the revenge plot of Tsukikage, a young man who becomes a rogue ninja to defeat the sorcerer Zawaf, the man responsible for his parents' deaths. Players must navigate seven challenging stages using an eight-way joystick and three buttons. A masterpiece known for its refined game design and high difficulty, strategic mastery of its four distinct weapons is the key to success. Please note that in certain scenes, trees in the background may not display correctly; this is an authentic quirk of the original arcade hardware.
Story
Tsukikage, a young man raised by ninjas, discovers the cruel truth that his foster father, Master Mumyo, had once killed his parents. Upon learning the secret of his birth and the identity of his parents' murderer, Tsukikage leaves the organization, consumed by both rage and sorrow, and throws himself into battle as a nukenin. Set in the era of the Bakumatsu, he fights a desperate struggle to carve out his own destiny.
