Description

Released in 1987 for the Sega Mark III, *SDI* is a home console port of Sega's arcade title of the same name. This horizontally scrolling shooter tasks players with controlling a satellite to defend Earth by destroying incoming enemy missiles and weapon systems. The gameplay is split between offensive and defensive stages, requiring precision to navigate and eliminate targets. As a notable "Gold Cartridge" release, it brought the high-stakes science fiction conflict of the arcade experience to the domestic screen.

Story

As a global arms race in space reaches a critical breaking point, an enemy nation has unleashed a devastating missile assault from the stars. To prevent your homeland from being reduced to scorched earth, you must pilot a high-tech satellite ship into orbit. It is your mission to intercept and destroy the incoming waves of enemy weaponry. You are the final line of defense; you must shatter the enemy's forces in the void of space to preserve peace and thwart their global ambitions.
